ST BENEDICT'S COLLEGE Business Students visit the Urban Farm

One of the things we really enjoy is hosting school groups from outside of our campus.  Recently, a  group of 36 Business Studies students and 4 teachers from St. Benedict's College at Mango Hill, travelled to our urban farm for the purpose of a field trip to support their eco-business studies.  We started indoors with a presentation about the urban farm story, followed by a Health and Safety presentation, and finally a short film giving an overview of the farm before going to see it.  Whilst on the farm, the students and their teachers took great interest in all aspects of the operation, and many thoughtful questions were asked.  One of the roles of the urban farm experience is to give some of our own students the opportunity to develop and practice leadership skills.  On this occasion two of our young urban farmers assisted with the field trip by speaking to the visiting audience about the poultry section, the worm farm, the composting process and the aquaponics system.
